A Penthouse Apartment - Boston, Massachusetts

This combination of two existing apartments overlooks the Boston Commons. A round foyer was added as a link between the two apartments with a gallery leading to the living room on one side and the bedrooms on the other, with the dining room ahead. William Hodgins’s decoration gives the apartment a light feel while every room takes advantage of the view. Mirror was used in various ways to lighten the rooms further. In the dining room mirror is incorporated in the frieze while the living room uses it to diminish an obtrusive beam. The owner’s large art collections and creamware porcelain complete the look.
